As a child of the 80s, I grew up in the world of 8-bit soundtracks via Nintendo games and my personal favorite, the Commodore-64. In the episode "Lethe" from Season 1 of Star Trek: Discovery, composer Jeff Russo adapted his main title theme into an 8-bit-inspired cue that I honestly just find to be fun in a nostalgic way.
The cue plays over a scene where Michael Burnham and Sylvia Tilly are running through the corridors of Discovery (debuting the famous "Disco" shirts). Burnham is advising Tilly about how to progress career-wise.
The idea to score the sequence in such an interesting and retro way is striking, and I would love to get Russo's take on how it came about. Regardless, it's a fun moment that I always enjoy hearing when the track comes up.
